Bundle of Snakes
In the sixties Ford embarked on its Total Performance program to promote racing. In 1963 the company provided pushrod V8 engines to Lotus for the Indy 500. For 1964 Ford developed a dual-overhead cam engine for the 500. The engines were developed by Ford and provided to Lots and private entrants. The defining visual aspect of the engine was the exhaust system. As the pipes exit the top of the engine they wind into a bundle to connect with the 2 exhaust pipes.
Bundle of Snakes captures the art of the pipe fabricator as the metalwork winds its way from the exhaust port to the connectors. The pop of yellow paint is a bonus.
