The Paddock
The Hockenheimring circuit will never win any awards for atmosphere. In the 1970s the circuit comprised of a twisty infield section and 2 very long straightaways that, after leaving the infield went out into the forest then a long right turn and back again to the twisty section. All-in-all not impressive. The massive grandstands surrounded the infield section and packed in thousands. As an enthusiast and photographer, the redeeming factor was paddock access. The Formula 2 series made multiple visits to Hockenheim annually and provided a great opportunity to see the cars and teams up close.
The Paddock captures a typical private team. The Equipe Nationale March 742 BMW powered cars for drivers Italian drivers Duilio Truffo and Maurizio Flammini are prepared besides the old FIAT truck and the team takes a break prior to the next session.
